Gunmen shot dead a town mayor and three other people at Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) in Metro Manila around 1115 Dec. 20. Authorities said Ukol Talumpa, the mayor of Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, was waiting for a ride with his family outside the airport terminal when two assailants riding a motorcycle and wearing police uniforms approached and shot him at close range. Talumpa’s wife, a relative, and an 18-month-old baby also died in the attack, while four others were wounded. The attackers reportedly fled to the Southern Luzon Expressway after the incident.
